This year has certainly been a historic year for the stock market. With the Dow Jones Industrial Average knocking on the door of 20,000, some Dow traders are already eyeing 2017’s “Dogs of the Dow.”

The Dogs of the Dow strategy involves buying the 10 highest-yielding Dow Jones stocks at the end of each year and re-adjusting annually. However, there may be very little or no adjustment necessary this year for Dogs of the Dow traders.

Here’s the full list of stocks in line to be 2017 Dogs of the Dow:

  • Boeing Co
  • Chevron Corporation
  • The Coca-Cola Co
  • Cisco Systems, Inc.
  • Exxon Mobil Corporation
  • International Business Machines Corp.
  • Pfizer Inc.
  • Procter & Gamble Co
  • Verizon Communications Inc.
  • Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Dogs traders are hoping that the group can replicate its 2016 performance again in 2017. This year, the Dogs are up an average of 17.4 percent, outpacing the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust’s  10.9 percent gain.

There hasn’t been a single loser among the 2016 Dogs of the Dow this year. Top performers include Caterpillar Inc.  and Chevron, which have both gained more than 30 percent.
